Kapitol color spread by 47ness Kapitol color spread by 47ness
Hi guys, no new SSnPP this week. ;-;

I DID take the time to finally put this page to color though...! :w00t:

Hoping to display this at a cool local gallery later this month. If you're in the area, ~do~ check it out. :D

---

Of course :iconkarinkanzuki: is still kicking my butt on weekly updates, with her comic Heroes & Bandits...!!

---

so, yeah, i guess you could say this is the very first page of SSnPP I've officially taken into color. hmmm... color them all, or no. ::thinking over his dilemma all over again::

To me, this is the city that Bridgetown would be under.

I look at the Critique box, and I can't think of a single thing to say. XD
Except that I love this, and it's so impressive, and that I hope you colour some special pages or whatever, because I'd definitely look forward to those. :nod:

Aaaaagggghhhh I envy your background work ;___; I want to draw steampunky backgrounds like this so hard D:
I like how the light catches on the heart of this view of the town, really good eye-drawing effect. How the town descends into bluer shadows and little lights below just adds more mystery to the town!

I like the added effect of fuzzy color/light on some of the objects, like the blimps. It enhances the idea of sunlight glimmering off their surfaces. It's something I've long liked about some animation cell style pictures.

Maybe just make the chapter intro page in color? It might be a nice lead in.

That's mah "bling" layer. I never finalize a .psd file withouts one. :D

I'd love to. I always start all my chapters BIG and SHOWY. But. the printer Rocky and I work with charges an arm and a leg for color, which is compounded by the service fee of moving the pages from a color feed to a b/w feed. *sigh*

"color them all, or no."
How long did it take you to do this? 'Cause maybe that won't be a good idea?????? Unless you want to take double the time it took to do it in BW and color them all, (for the FANS!!!! :heart:) --Sort of like the ElfQuest artist did..............................

But honestly, I'd love to see more stories, with other crazy adventures, come from your pretty lil' head! D:<3*:

My pretty GIANT head. >P

All in all, coloring took about 15 hours? I honestly don't know. I kept drifting off in between working on it. >D
I don't even think a lot of my panels CAN be colored. ^ Like, Sally's hair is shaded in SUPER dark, so just trying to put a red layer over it won't work; I'd have to really get in there and noodle the Levels or some-sang.

...you know one lingering regret about going b/w is I can't really do stuff like make Pete's eyes turn from happy!green to TERMINATOR!RED either as a gag or for storytelling purposes... ^^;

(I think Miguel's advice on Monday about "Treat it like a job. Know when to just move on to the next phase." rings true.) 6__6

The idea is that the city just keeps going down ...forever. :dummy:

—; It's definitely a mixed bag...! On the one hand, color can evoke EMOTIONS and makes things easier to tell apart/keep track of from panel to panel.

On the other hand, I don't reeeeally need it. Like does everyone really need to see all those random thugs and goons and rocks in color?? XD Sometimes I just want to get through the story. Sure, I LIKE to give you and everyone else a terrific-looking comic, but ...yay @ story? ^~;;;

Maybe you could try coloring a page or two and see how easy/difficult it is for you. Or maybe you could try just coloring parts of the page? I dunno, I'm just throwing things out here.

There's certainly some panels I ♥ more than others. It's like a parent picking their favorite child ...only much easier. :XD:

The one downside is the minute I do add any color, the entire page counts as a color page and the printing folk can charge $1.00 or more per page rather than $0.30 ...yeah. The upside of course is the potential to do something more gorgeous and memorable. ^~
