cool work

It had been an ever present fear.
A shadow that hung over his every waking moment, and one that even followed him into his dreams.
His foster parents told him that his fears made perfect sense.
Albert had been abandoned as a child.
Left on the old Parish doorstep as a newborn.
For ten years he lived with that fear.
Ten years, night after night, it tormented him.
There was a light, a brilliantly bright light, brighter than the sun.
All encompassing blinding...
It scared him.
Terrified him.
It was as if he was being watched.
Studied carefully like a specimen under glass.
Then he would freeze up. He would feel a tugging sensation in the center of his gut...
...and that's when he would wake up.
So when night fell Albert sat perched on the edge of his bed his eyes fixed on his bedroom door.
It would be tonight. He didn't know how or why but he felt certain that tonight was the night when he would finally be taken.
Facing that thought the fear that had plagued him all his young life had finally vanished.
Tonight he would be drawn to the front door.
Tonight the sky would become like day.
And tonight Albert knew that he would be taken...

This is lovely! It's funny, before I saw the title, I thought this was an optimistic, hopeful image. I like how the pure white beyond the doorway almost makes it look like the house is floating. Great pic!

Great photograph! I do like the lighting in this one and how it creates a very ominous atmosphere. The fact that beyond the door is just all bright white adds to that feeling and you have to wonder what is going through the child's mind as he looks beyond the door. Excellent work, keep it up!
