Torment's Guilt - Prologue Rough Draft
The sky turned to vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red as the sun began to fall below the horizon. The beautiful sunset was easily visible through the window of Torment's office, but he wasn’t watching it. Instead, he was wearily staring at his desk with half-lidded eyes, almost as if he was too tired to look forward. A knock on the door made Torment jump. He took a few deep breaths to stop himself from shaking, pulled his wolf skull mask back over the top of his face, and put on a fake smile. “Come in!” He called, using the happiest and least exhausted-sounding voice that he could muster. He hoped that he looked presentable enough to match his fake voice and expression. Did I preen my feathers today? “Archangel Torment?” Responded a soft, nervous voice as the door slowly opened.
