Parts for Gears & Keys came from a child’s necklace, a plastic bead bracelet, old suitcase keys and a wood curtain ring. First the wood curtain ring was painted with a metallic gold paint and then sealed with a glossy poly-acrylic. Metal screw eye hooks were then installed on both sides of the wood ring and painted with a matching gold colored paint. On the upper portion of the ring there is a silver tone metal split ring that acts as the decoration’s hanger. It is attached to the wood ring by 4 thick gold tone metal chains. On the bottom side of the wood ring there is a series of 8 gold tone decorative metal chains. Each chain contains 3 metal gears spaced evenly along the chain, a gold and black colored plastic bead followed by a key charm. Four of the chains have copper tone metal gears and the other 4 have antiqued brass colored metal gears. Four of the metal key charms are copper tone in color, 2 are antiqued brass in color and the final 2 are gold tone in color. This decoration measures approximately 18 ½ inches in length from the top of the split-ring to the bottom of the lowest key charm. Gears & Keys is an indoor only decoration and will not tolerate being outside exposed to various weather elements over a long period of time.
