Tuesday 30th December saw the last railtour before withdrawal and overhaul of LNER A4 pacific 4464 'Bittern', with the Kings Cross to Lincoln and return 'The Bittern Farewell'. I witnessed the Loco on the outward leg at Metheringham, whilst being coaled and watered in Lincoln and on the return leg through Swinderby. I'm highly unlikely to see 4464 during her Indian Summer at the Mid-Hants, so this is my farewell to her. Will we see a fully streamlined A4 pacific on the mainline again? I can only hope so..
