Anna Thomas was having a boring day. The blonde thirty-something generally enjoyed her career as a librarian. It was peaceful and above all else, useful. But for today, it was barren. She sighed, there wasn’t even any pointless make-work to do. All returns were back in their proper spots. No new books were awaiting processing. And to make matters work there was no one who needed her help at the information desk. She looked over at the time on the clock. There were still over three hours to go on her shift today she realized with a mounting sense of dread. At least it was only another half an hour at the info desk. She was just about to contemplate finding a book to read when a soft voice interrupted her. It was small and lilting, like a song sung at dusk.
