Hello, I found your deviation through ProjectComment
Wow, the heat and energy of this really jumps out at you! The fire of the wings is very convincing. It looks like they caught on fire and the fire is spreading rapidly. The grim reaper figure's sword appear to be one with the lava. All those fireballs flying around are pretty convincing and add some flare to this image! A really nice touch is that the fireball above the grim reaper has a skull shape to it! It makes me think that maybe the grim reaper figure is in control of the situation we see before us in this image. Another nice touch is that the mountains are not too focused, so the viewer's gaze stays on the figures. The only thing I can really suggest for improvement is the reflected light on the grim reaper. Based on how bright and yellow that lava around him is, I think there should be more reflected light on him. You do have some on him already, but I think ti should be a bit brighter. Or maybe if you wanted him to stay dark, you might consider adding a smoky haze around him to suggest he is bringing darkness or is untouched by the glow of that lava. The dark mist or haze around the feet of the winged figure gives a ghostly vibe and goes well with your title. This is a really awesome image, and I can tell you put a lot of effort into it La la la la

Thank you so much! Yes, I saw the problem with him, I added some reflected light but I didn't like adding too much as I thought it detracted too much from the darkness I wanted to keep in him.. thanks for the smokey haze time I'll keep that in mind.. :D

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment!

This is a pretty seamless blend of photo-manipulation and digital painting. The lava does have a softer look about it compared to the rest of the piece, which looks much crisper and more defined. The flames on the wings are very convincing and it really does look like they're on fire. The blur against the background's mountains is a great way to keep the viewer focused on the two main characters of the picture, while still giving the feeling of a large, canyon-like area. The female of the picture really captures your attention and she has a rather unsettling beauty about her.

The dark and grungy colors used in this piece are impressive and tie it together well. A lot of effort went into this and it shows! You did a really cool job on this. =]

This is a magnificent, provocative, dark, and awe-inspiring work of art! There's so much about this that I simply adore: The sky is so detailed and dreadful as the hellish flames descend (indeed, each of the fireballs contains such detail and frightening signs of life). Barren and showing signs of devastation, the very ground reflects the horrid and hopeless nature of hell, only to lead to a beautiful and overflowing natural vat of magma and fire. However, despite the fantastic landscape, my favorite aspect of this work would have to be the woman, who I can only assume is some sort of crestfallen angel: Everything about her is tragic yet empowering as her burning wings smolder in the heat of the forsaken land on which she walks. The wings are beautiful and tie together seamlessly with her hair and torn robes. This is absolutely a work of beauty. Thank you so much for sharing this with the community!

Thank you so much, your compliment means a lot.. I have to say it makes me happy that you enjoy her the most; she is my favorite part of the piece, as I built the entire scene around her, as her story. Thank you very much for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!

Nice. You did a really fantastic job and it was very enjoyable. I loved the detail on the wings and all those different fires and smoldering spots.

Hello there!
This is Jacky on behalf of

Firstly I would like to express that this work represents very well the concept that you created.
The atmosphere and the colors are correct and very enjoyable to see.
The perspective and sense of distance is also very good.
My only advice to you would be to try to create a more natural movement of the lava and make it look
softer, specially in the way the lava is being expeled and melting.

Hope my comment can be useful and I wish you a good luck in the contest for which you created this work.

Have a great wek.

Hello. Thank you for the comment! Would you have any advice as to how to get it to look more natural? I was going for as natural as possible.. I don't exactly know how to achieve better results.

Nice to meet you, and I hope you have a great week as well! (Ps. The contest is over.. I didn't place in it but thank you for the good wishes anyway)

Sorry to hear that,it was a good work.

I always try to make more natural some effects looking
at some picture references and I use to draw the lacking parts
using different Photoshop suggestion,
type Photoshop brushes and you'll find a lot of brushes here or you can
find more here.

You could also use the smudge tool to vanish the effect of the lava.

if you need help I'm always open to help to any deviant fellow.

Have an awesome week andyou'll be ready to go toe to toe with top manipulators.

Have an awesome and creative week!!:D (Big Grin)
