" "We were chasing a dog," Luke said. "At least some animal like a dog." He stopped, and then went on reluctantly. "We followed it outside." "
My second piece in my Monsters in Literature series. This one is for "The Haunting of Hill House", a very typical sort of haunted house story. This one was interesting because in general, the monster is the house itself, and I'm not much of an architect. So, because it helps develop the theme of thresholds and the body of the monster, I focused on the physical manifestations- the thing like a dog/rabbit, and the invisible footsteps. Felt like giving the animal thing lights for a face, no explanation.
