Conker VS Denji

Conker VS Denji (Conker’s Bad Fur Day VS Chainsaw Man)

Connections:

• Both are anti-hero protagonists who navigate through bizarre and dangerous worlds.

• Both come from fictional universes with unconventional storytelling and characterization.

• Both exhibit a mix of wit, determination, and sometimes sheer luck to overcome challenges.

• Both are known for their irreverent and sometimes crude humor.

• Both are associated with chainsaws (Conker uses a chainsaw in a memorable scene where he cuts through the Nintendo 64 logo and Denji wields chainsaws as his primary weapon and even transforms parts of his body into chainsaws).

• Both share a willingness to confront enemies and obstacles head-on, even when faced with overwhelming odds.

• Both at the start of their series had an original goal, but embark on adventures because they desire something (Conker initially tries to find his way home after a night of heavy drinking, but his motivations evolve as he seeks to defeat the Panther King and reclaim his throne, while Denji originally had planned to pay the debt of his father's, but has a new goal, which is to cop a feel and achieve a life of luxury and freedom).

• Both are hunted by individuals or groups because of what they possess (Conker is pursued by enemies such as the Panther King's minions because the Panther King specifically wants to use Conker as a stand for his chair and Denji is hunted by factions like the Yakuza and the Devil Hunters, who view him as valuable due to his unique abilities as a Devil Hunter with the power of the Chainsaw Devil).

• Both have experienced periods where their franchises were inactive but have made returns to the spotlight later on (Conker didn't necessarily return in a new game, but made a return in a remake of the first game, Conker's Bad Fur Day, while Denji returned in Part 2 of Chainsaw Man)

• Both undergo character development throughout their respective stories, evolving from their initial portrayals.

• Both have encountered a variety of allies and adversaries on their journeys.

• Both often find themselves in morally ambiguous situations, blurring the lines between heroism and self-interest.

• Both have moments of introspection where they question their own motives and actions.

• Both possess a dark and cynical outlook on life, stemming from their experiences in their respective worlds.

• Both lose a female companion during the course of their stories by the main antagonist (Conker loses his girlfriend, Berri by the Panther King and Denji's close companion, Power, meets a tragic fate by Makima)

• Both ultimately achieve their goals, but at the cost of their female companions' lives (Conker successfully defeats the Panther King and reclaims his throne, fulfilling his initial goal, but at the cost of Berri's life, as she tragically dies during the course of the game and Denji achieves his goal of living a normal life and experiencing happiness, but this comes at the ultimate cost of Power's life, leading to the sacrificial death of his close best friend).

• Both experience a sense of disillusionment or dissatisfaction after achieving their goals (after Conker defeats the Panther King and reclaims his throne, he realizes that the responsibilities of rulership and the trappings of power are not as fulfilling as he had imagined and expresses a desire to return to his carefree life before becoming king, indicating that he no longer wants the throne, while Denji attains his goal of living a normal life and experiencing happiness, but he ultimately finds that this newfound happiness is fleeting and unsatisfying without Power by his side and grapples with feelings of emptiness and longing, indicating that he no longer wants the normal life he once desired).
