Commission: Kanohi Savitar by 0nuku Commission: Kanohi Savitar by 0nuku
Alright guys, here it comes. My first 3D commission is complete! This was a $50 design for LegoMetal44 for his self-MOC Derick, based on the design of Savitar from the Flash TV Series. The Kanohi Savitar, Mask of Lightning, gives the user control over lightning, though not to the extent of a Vo-Toa. The mask is also designed with stud attachments in the eyes for lighting systems.

And if you want a commission for yourself, be sure to check out my Journal to get all the information on how you can get your own designs 3D printed! And if you want to order this mask for yourself, check out the Shapeways page!

I'm sorry about the delay guys, but the Savitar is officially up for sale once more. The fitting issues have all been addressed and you shouldn't have problems, but please let me know if you do!

Hello, awesome work! When are you planning to make this Mask available again? I like it a lot and I think it could suit a MOC of mine very well.

Also, what do you mean by stud attachments? Does that mean Lego studs can attach to the eye sockets?

And yes, Lego studs can attach to the eyes.

Awesome, thanks a lot! I was planning to get that gorgeous Mask of Mutation but I think that will wait a bit. I'll get this one first since I don't need to paint it and the wearer of the MoM isn't quite ready yet. Do you think Black Hi-Def Acrylate is a good option?

Really cool idea about the eyes. Fits my character very well.

I've never personally printed in Hi-Def, but I know Toa Tom uses it almost exclusively. As the name says, it does have a higher definition, as does Frosted Detail. But for something on the scale of Kanohi masks, Strong and Flexible is plenty. I prefer the color options and the price, but if you want to try Hi-Def, go for it.

Thanks for the help.
I've seen the Savitar Tom printed and it looks very good. I need the Savitar in black, so if I get just one of those, I might as well get the best one. So I'll go for Black Hi-Def.

The Mask of Mutation, though, was more of a problem. I would like to paint it, so your reply made me check the Strong and Flexible options. What made me unseasy about S&F was the grainy feel, but I hadn't noticed the Strong and Flexbile Polished options yet. Those seem like a good price/quality compromise.

This way, I'll get both masks in one go. I can't wait to see the Mask of Mutations in person.

Very nicely done. The stud connections are an interesting design feature. Not too expensive on shapeways, either. The MoUP has so many polygons that it is super expensive to print in higher detail plastics.

I don't think polygon count really matters on Shapeways. The prices are based on material cost, handling, and then the maker's markup.

Yeah, then it must be the shape/size that's weird. Anyways, it's still expensive compared to most other masks on the site.

Wow. I don't know which is cooler: the mask design or the 360 3D display.
