Every page is a step
into a new world,
every chapter a new beginning,
every book, is a new light,
that illuminates a lonely
and sad night,
into the adventures of a life time.

An amazing journey
awaits inside a book,
fantasy worlds,
of beauty and joy.

With them, we can sometimes
hear the voice of history,
better our present,
and make positive changes for our future.

But for me,
ever since a child
a fantasy book is like magic
that sprinkles joy,
with it's wondrous adventures.

It's my bridge to
the unimaginable,
and for that moment
it becomes very real...

It is as well the faster way
to go to outer space,
into the past or to the future.

It's a joyful ink therapy
that has made a world
of difference in many
people's lives.

So here is to a book
and to a happy ride.

This is for the :icongetdailydeviations: "To Tell a Story" contest.

Sometimes we become lost within our own souls.
Our goals and the possibilities of the universe are obscured from us and we can no longer see them.
We are unaware how close we really are to the outside because we are locked inside ourselves.
And we will eventually suffocate unless we find our way back.

This painting is acrylic on canvas. It is quite large, 30 x 24 inches.    I had somewhat of a hard time with it, I usually like to work on wood or masonite and the canvas responded so differently.

Do not reproduce, modify, use or distribute without permission.

In Mob Psychology, Deindividuation refers to the distortion of ones sense of individuality when in a group.
Extroverts tend to be more vulnerable to deindividuation. The image portrays the desperate struggle to cling to ones one heart and sense of self in the face of social pressures and ones own desire to stand out. I have experienced this issue on a very minor scale during my life as a Zimbabwean especially pertaining to my sexuality. Being secretly gay while amongst teenagers who are not is extremely difficult because of the immense homophobia in my country.

Kids at school may openly proclaim their hatred of gays and one girl during assembly even said that she hopes they all burn in hell. She said that she doesn't give a shit about them. I don't let it get to me though as I can still travel overseas where I am more likely to be accepted for who I really am. Besides, my sexuality isn't all that defines me and many other go through much worse than I do. Though I still feel sad that I have to lie to my own parents who deeply love me but no nothing of the truth. They would never approve of me being in a relationship with another guy.

*WARNING: THIS IMAGE IS BIG!!*
