I know mermay was the perfect opportunity to paint mermaids, but for me the real mermaid season is summer >u<
I really love mermaids, they are so magical and mysterious *o* Soo I had to paint this mermaid c: It was hard to decide the colours for her, because I want to paint many mermaids with different colours C': But yeah, she turned out this ombe pink-purble-blue version, and I kinda like it c: I got my new Kuretake gansai tambi watercolor set about a month ago, and I just love it's vivid colours. :3 I hope you like it guys, and I hope you have a great summertime c:
Size: A5 Medium: watercolor, polychromos and white liner
I decided to start again with a project I begun in 2016. 26 different mythological creatures which are not as common as dragons and unicorns but still deep imbedded in culture and mythology. The first version was A6 and I decided to go with A5 from now on.
This is Abaia, mother of all fish. "In the mythology of Melaneisa, the Abaia is a gigantic eel-like monster that lives at the bottom of a lake. It considers all of the fish in the lake its children and protects them furiously against anyone attempting to catch them. Those foolish enough to try are immediately overwhelmed by a tidal wave cause by the Abaia swishing its enormous tail."
Watercolors again~ Damn edit... It was raining for a few days so i couldn't take a photo. Today it's sunny but it still looks weird. I was trying to edit this in Sai. Hope it's not that bad ;w; I used different paper, this one is smooth. I like it, but every touch of brush isvisible so the effect is different. It's harder to make soft edges and gradients xp Azel umie się zmieniać, a zachciało mi się narysować podwójne oczy. Myślę że wpasował się tu najlepiej z moich postaci. I tym razem nie ma jego PŁASKIEJ klaty
About my personal situation: It's much better. I almost don't think about this person, sometimes some memories come back, but i feel more free ;w;
IF YOU WANT TO SAY SOMETHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THIS ART, SAY SOMETHING POSITIVE TOO. OTHERWISE LEAVE My fb: I am Smoke Character and art by me
Hooo-whee, was this fun! It felt great to work with acrylics again-- it always feels like so long in between times I work with them, even when it's only been a short while. :'D
ANYWAY, I love this guy! As soon as I saw his design, I thought: "Oh.... A doctor Bagbean.... I have an idea. c: "
////Of course it's Jekyll and Hyde-esque. It wouldn't be me if it wasn't. ;3
So this is a short version of the story I've come up with for him-- if someone else wins, I only ask that they don't use it for him. ;v; Jekyll and Hyde, and therefore this story, is very personal to me. I'm not saying, of course, that no one can use Jekyll and Hyde things, but please don't intentionally use it, ahh. x'3 With that out of the way... >:3 Torrence only wanted to make advancements in the field of science and biology. He thought that, if he could help the minds of sick and injured beans feel better, this would in turn make their bodies also get better. Unfortunately, he was treated rather poorly by those around him, who called him a hack (or worse, a quack) and suggested he use his otherwise decent intellect for something less risky. Messing with the mind was no laughing matter, of course. Torrence knew this, but he felt that he could manage it, if only he could find the perfect test subject. Unfortunately, it seemed the most perfect of subjects was himself. Well, he thought, if anything was to be done right, he'd have to do it himself. Torrence downed most of the potion, and immediately he felt stronger. He felt so much freer and lighter, as if he could overcome anything! He could even overcome the weaker half of himself, force it down and make it subservient to his true natur- Torrence only then realised that something was wrong, but it was too late. He'd made a mistake (a 'medical mishap', if you will c': ). He had indeed made a potion that would make the body stronger, but in doing so, he'd also created a monster. In order to make the mind --and therefore the body-- stronger, the potion had needed to target the stronger aspect of the brain. In Torrence, this just so happened to be the part that sought revenge, that wanted to see others pay for their disbelief in him. And so, Torrence's other half was released into Beania. He crushed the vial that had contained the chemicals, so Torrence could not emerge and drink it down so easily, before heading out into the night. As an added note, whenever they pass by a reflective surface, they can see their other half. For example, if Torrence looked into a mirror, he would see his darker half (who doesn't yet have a name); if Torrence's other half looked into a mirror, he would see poor Torrence (as shown here). ^^
I spent a total of 9 hours on this (the longest I've ever spent on a painting), broken down like this:
Day 1: 2 hours Day 2: 2 hours Day 3: 4 hours Day 4: 1 hour
I kept my acrylics in a tupperware container while I worked on it. ;v;
This is for this DTA:
Good luck to everyone else, and thank you so much griffsnuff for hosting this DTA! x3
