With a deep breath, the dark skinned woman smiles, embarrassed by how she reacted. "I didn't mean to frighten you, child," the woman says, her eyes crinkling from a wide smile. Her skin is leathery and her voice raspy, and though she doesn't have a calming demeanor -- in fact, Devani would later say the other woman made her feel uneasy -- she is kind and knowing. As the duo had flown away from the ship, Devani was entirely unaware of the amount of people helping the remaining passengers to securely dock the vessel and disembark. What she had noticed was just how much bigger the city appeared. Compared to her birthplace, it might as well have been a village. Her hands pulled on the reins, instructing the golden hued dragon she rode to take a wide turn around the city. There was no sound of protest from Nemesis, just a simple, annoyed flick of her tail. Thanatos had been among the first to dive into battle. Devani hadn’t even noticed the beast until Nemesis craned her head upwards at the shadow gray dragon, screeching at him, begging for him to just wait, they had no plan, what was he doing. Her pleadings were angry. Sparks of electricity spat from out between large, pale teeth. Devani understood that, at this point, she would be unable to calm Nemesis down or get her to focus. Reins loose, but with a white-knuckled grip, the golden dragon was told to follow her friend into the fray.
She obeyed, as expected. Perhaps a bit too willingly.
