Internet communities often lash out at writers who create Mary Sues. Declaring the writing to be below their standards, they proceed to punish the creators. They mock the characters, verbally abuse the writers, and write hyperbolically about how much they wish the characters would die.
Bullying writers (who may be very young) is only going to make them afraid to write—and therefore improve—or share their work. Not only that, but it discourages other writers from speaking for fear of public mockery, and it may silence the voices that could someday become great.
If you've directly or indirectly suffered from the abuse of such individuals, let me first apologize on their behalf. I don't care if your story stinks so much that it can be smelled from fifty miles away; mocking you
Mary Sues are a common phenomenon in stories: a character who gets special treatment. The definition of a Mary Sue is subjective, so it isn't always easy to tell whether a character is or isn't a Sue.
A male Mary Sue might also be called a Gary Stu, Marty Stu, or Marty Sue. Male characters are less often accused of being Mary Sues than females are.
Mary Sues are a natural part of learning to write, and while the writing community often lashes out at writers for creating them, their existence does not indicate a lack of writing ability. Mary Sues can be analyzed, improved, and outgrown over time, and they're common starting places for many writers.
Mary Sues are created when the author becomes too invested in a character (or that character's success) for the story's own good. This can manifest
Hello there, it's a great pleasure to share with you my thoughts and approach to portrait painting. Either you are a begginner, an intermediate or more advanced, I hope you find this article useful and inspiring to some degree. Besides, portraits seldom give us a break, right?
Defining Alla Prima
In this tutorial we will explore the alla prima approach. So, what is "alla prima"? Alla prima is an Italian term meaning at first attempt. In other words it's a direct, wet on wet painting method, using one layer of paint. If the scale allows it then the painting is done before the paint starts to dry. If it's a large painting then you're forced to paint it in parts in the same manner.
Now, this is one way to do it but it doesn't mean it's the only way or the best way to go with it.
But no matter our approach we have to be disciplined. So let's try some of that!

Chapter 9 “Types of Writers” – Section 2 “Career Writers”
With Links to Supplementary Material
In the last article on Types of Writers, we discussed the different types of writers, or perhaps the different attitudes towards writing. The first of these is the Career Writer, someone who seeks to make a career out of writing stories—usually characterized by higher than average writing skills, a knowledge of their field, but limited experience in other fields and a temptation to focus on publishing instead of taking the time to craft their story.
Tip 1: Create a schedule of writing, reading, networking, and editing.
The first major difficulty for a writer focused on the goa
The point of any battle is to know your opponent and, more importantly, know your own Pokémon and be able to exploit their natural abilities and moves to the utmost in battle; despite how simple it sounds, the results in battle can often times be more than even experienced trainers can handle and can call for a major revision of one's combat strategies. The tactics used by trainers can vary extensively in any battle, but when taken down to their most basic components, each tactics and combination in battle is simple enough for even beginning trainers to understand, though it might not be so easy to enforce it in practice. What follows is a brief but comprehensive review on battle tactics and how different moves and associated powers can be used to turn even simple assaults into powerful weapons that most Pokémon will have some difficulty breaking through.
BASIC COMBAT STYLES
Offensive battling is the most common type of battling and is generally the eas
It's 2015, and I thought I'd share some of my thoughts on building discipline and improving your work ethic. It's quite a long text but i hope it's worth the read. Right at the beginning of 2014 I read an article that seriously helped me build up a stronger work ethic than I've ever had before, and over the year I've accumulated more knowledge that has helped push it further. I want everyone to have a super productive year, and hopefully maintain that work ethic for the rest of your life, so here is what I know about discipline. Everything here is collected from listening to other people, be they artists, business people, scientists, or comedians. And they've all helped me in varying degrees. Also, this is mostly aimed at people just starting out who may have problems working consistently but don't know how to overcome that, as I had in the past. But if you're a solid worker already, I hope some of this echoes your own experience or helps you anyways.
Bitten and betrayed
Many evil blood suckers
Stabbing me with a needle
Don’t let me relax
How can they
Go to school
Covered and itching
A mass of bumps and scratches
Given to me over night
Will they ever leave
Don’t want cereal
Yearn to kill those that eat me
To kill is not the right phrase
Still hungry for their
I look at my back
Huge wings of crystal glass planes
Sparkle under the sunlight
Move quickly in air
Killing the killers
I’m saving humanity
I’m not a freak but evolved
Into something great
I feel like eating
Mosquitoes of the devil
Fat and bloated on the blood
They snack on humans
I snack on
