The Angel who dared to love
In the hopeful morning of the world, when all things were new-made, the Lord looked down upon His Creation – and lo! – it teemed with life.  And He summoned one of his angels and spake to him out of the great winds of the air.
Go thou forth and teach My children so they shall know My Law and abide by it that their days in the Earth which I have given them be long.
And the angel bowed before his God and went forth among the children of men that they might learn. And he was glad, for they seemed to him fair, as having the outward form of their Creator and they were willing to hear and to learn and he had much to teach. And they prospered and their numbers grew and all the things of the Earth were theirs. But soon mankind grew proud and covetous and strife arose among them.
And the angel returned to the Presence and was greatly perplexed.
Lord, Thou hast given Thy children all the Earth – and yet it is not enough. Tell me, O Father, how I may teach them to love Thee

The Scariest Ones of All
You humans call us rotten.  You call us disgusting.  You call us monsters.  But I ask you?  If we are monsters, then what the hell are you?!!!
You hunt just like we do.  You hurt, you maim...you kill.  And you don’t kill in the name of nature like us. You kill because you can. You kill even when it's not part of the plan.  You murder for greed, for sex, for power.  Your kind will keep on slaughtering 'til your final hour.  You brand us cannibals.  But you savagely consume you own too.  You may not feast on flesh but you callously gorge on the faith and dreams of others.  You devour the livelihoods of your sisters and brothers.  You hungrily dine on tendons of integrity and smile while digesting the hearts of honesty.
You say that we’re dead inside, that our hearts are petrified.  But you’re the ones whose hearts are ridden with the larvae of apathy and hate and pumps blood that runs unbearably cold.
Zombies -- we most cert

Afterlife Astronaut
“There is no God.”
“Well, you don’t know that for sure-“
“Bernard, as an AI connected to every philo-science document, every parabyte of knowledge in the Human Empire, every logic string going back to the days of the Past Colonists... I can assure you, there is no God. It has been proven.”
Bernard sighed. His helmet visor fogged up then disappeared.
“I’m not going to bother arguing with you. Soon that golden gate is going to open, and I will walk into the Kingdom of Heaven. That should be enough proof.”
The gate in question was a smooth sphere of gold, slowly rotating on an equally dull pedestal. Crystal red spires pointed at specific points on the globe.
“You just don’t want to argue with me because you are in fear of how wrong you are. And how right a computer can be.”
Jude deserved to be muted, but sass like that always kept her voice a ubiquitous presence in Bernard’s helmet. A blue flash in the top

not anymore.
as we approach the start/finish line, i turn on an axis of my own making.
i bleed into language like a storm lets rain, untamed, bound by none.
when we're gone, they'll tell stories about us, and it will all begin like this.
they are a definition unto themselves.

on that first day of classes
they asked me what my religion was—
i smirked and said,
differential calculus.

because i wonder about the slope of your cheekbones, the curvature of your hands in every vase of flowers you've carried and all the notebooks you've filled up. there's nothing heretical about this, loving girls as much as boys and only wanting to be their best friend. wanting, with all my being. there's nothing improper about it but they tell me i'm wrong anyway.
eventually, at some critical point, i learn to stop caring.
coincidence, perfect coincidence, that black-gray-purple are the colors i choose to dress in, that pink and blue were the first colors of pain

Envy
I’m standing in a crowd,
My eyes taking me around like a cloud.
To the right- a woman in a tutu swirling
I wasn’t the only one, fifty  others were watching, enjoying!
How did she get all that attention? Mere dance?
Or did she cast a spell to steal a glance?
To the left- My ears then distracted me-
To the sound of a child laughing uncontrollably.
How does this innocence exist in this world of cruelty?
How can he smile like that? How can he be so carefree?
Now to the left my sight caught hers
Beautiful, blue-green windows to the universe!
Beautiful, eccentric, exotic pair of eyes,
Why don’t  I own such powerful lens that can see through lies?
I then look ahead, a group of friends
Lost in their own world of fun and contend.
They are true to themselves, never have to pretend
Because that’s their world right there, the beginning, the end.
I’m surrounded by people, people happier and better than me,
Why don’t i have that?
Her skill, his innocence, their bond,

The Guardian Wraith of Starlit Smoke
Our sitting here by lantern-light together
In the thick of a teeming snowfall;
The final golden glow,
Against the ancient sovereignty of night,
Like the last petal off a flower.
It is turning three hundred years
He never let the lantern drop.
The illimitable dark and cold and storm,
Whose work is to find out God;
And when they came it seemed with a will
To carry me with them to death.

What comes over a man, is it soul or mind-
(The Devil enters like a sapphire wasp)
Twixt what to love and what to hate
To find out how to get away from God?

No one has seen him stumble looking back
From having died
Inaudibly in thought;
The sorrow of having been left behind.

The land was ours before we were the land's
And having it all made over new
From force to matter and back to force,
The alrea
