Brandon Sanderson is a very hyped author. From the five stories before this one I had read, that hype was warranted. However, even with this knowledge, I was hesitant to get into this series. The Mistborn series, originally a trilogy then a seven-book series, is huge and relates to some of his later series. Was I really willing to get myself into yet another long series? However, my library sold a copy of the first book for 50p… so I really couldn’t say no! Still, I put off reading it for half a year… until now. The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson is the first in his initial Mistborn trilogy. Set in, well, the Final Empire, it imagines a world where evil won.
