Smash Character Sheet: Captain Arjuna
CAPTAIN ARJUNA Alright, so we did have one more semi-big character list in us. Let's get into it! This is all characters I could pull out originating from the Legend of Zelda manga, or were given just enough of a boost by the manga to make it into our rankings. They are: Maple Jolene Ricky Captain Stalfos Manga Link Riruto Manga Zelda Raska Tou Ghanti Gonza Kala Captain Arjuna Sir Raven Biri Com Gump Shemlon Rouro 20. Ganon's Minion 21. Ganon's Heart 22. Ganos 23. Haggis Today, we cover another original companion to Link throughout the Cagiva adaptation of A Link to the Past. Captain Arjuna starts out as the captain of the royal guard and head of the Hylian soldiers, suspicious of Agahnim's true intentions. When Agahnim's coup occurs, he fights alongside Link's Uncle, survives the battle, and escapes, becoming a fugitive alongside Link and Raska, taking up a Kakashi-esque mentorship role for the pair. As for his abilities, sad to say, we never really get to see them on the page.

Smash Character Sheet: Moblin
MOBLIN Today, we begin our very first run of Legend of Zelda character sheets, figuring out just what kind of movesets we can pull from all these characters and building a roster. For the moment, we have about fourteen: Link Dark Link Princess Zelda (Currently honorary) Marin Sahasrahla Old Man Hylian Soldier Ganon Agahnim Nightmare Moblin Stalfos Vire/Keese Thunderbird Right from the get-go, the first and foremost minion of Ganon and core enemy throughout the series are the Moblins. Starting life as large anthropomorphic bulldogs, they would eventually take more of a pig form to be more in keeping with their boss Ganon. They would also be replaced in a way by their smaller cousins, the Bokoblins, making Moblins more the elite warriors to the Bokoblin grunts, sorta like the Uruk-hai to the Orcs if you will. So far we only have a few actions of note, but enough, and we all know that the list will only keep growing in future games, so I'd say we've crossed the playable threshold.

Smash Universe: A Link to the Past (Ishinomori)
A LINK TO THE PAST (ISHINOMORI) Today, we'll be covering an adaptation of A Link to the Past printed in Nintendo Power comics and written by mangaka Ishinomori Shotaro. The comic covers much of the general plot of the game, though it leaves a lot out for the sake of the story. The biggest addition to the plot is the character Roam, a noble (-ish) knight destined to wield the silver arrows when fighting Ganon, but, due to his impure heart, starts to transform into an eagle when in the Dark World. (This must have been a popular concept, because Himekawa's manga adaptation would have a similar, but more well-done, character). Roam wielded a sword and crossbow, could transform into an eagle, returned briefly as an angel after his death, and, of course, wielded the silver arrows. I think we can possibly factor in the explosive firecorn items and the fairy Epheremelda, both appearing in this comic. Anyway, here's what we've got so far: Link: kick, sword, sword beam, pillow, magic pouch

Smash Universe: 2D Zelda Classic Mode
2D ZELDA CLASSIC MODE Just like with the Mario series, my image for how a classic mode would play out is that you would have a set recreating every major game in the franchise, using battles with certain fighters and stages to recreate the look and feel of various scenes and stages. Here's one for A Link to the Past: Vs. Agahnim, on Hyrule Castle Vs. Hylian Soldier horde, on Dungeon Vs. Sahasrahla on Eastern Palace Possible Moldorm boss fight on Gerudo Valley Vs. Agahnim on Ganon’s Tower Vs. Giant Dodongo on The Dark World Vs. maybe a giant Tentacruel on Water Temple Vs. Stalfos horde on Great Deku Tree Vs. Zelda with a dark aura around her on Kakariko Village Vs. maybe Yeta on Snowpeak Ruins Vs. Wizzrobe horde on a swamp stage, maybe Soda Jungle Maybe a Gleeok boss fight on Great Bay Vs. Ganon on Ganon’s Tower

Smash Character Sheet: Goriya
GORIYA There's not much point to a big returning character review this time around, so let's cover the small handful of characters we were able to pull from the Legend of Zelda cartoon series created by DiC, and the few western comics published under the Zelda series banner. We have eleven to add, including: TV Link TV Zelda King Harkinian Queen Seline Roam Sing Doof & Automaton Sleezenose TV Ganon Goriya Water Monster Today, an old, long-standing enemy finally gets its due. Goriyas have appeared since the very first game, generally cropping up in 2D titles as bipedal wolves wielding boomerangs. Sadly, boomerangs was all they were good for until now, but in the cartoon series, they alongside Moblins and Stalfos made up the main body of Ganon's minions, and as such, I feel they can be an easy catch all for anything unique to the series minions, as they probably handled most of those things too. On top of their boomerangs, this gives us staffs

Link vs Beamos (Legend of Zelda)
Several of Link's incarnations have encountered Beamos' lasers, some are even able to avoid several of them in closed spaces or even deflect them. Beamos' lasers cover many properties of legitimate lasers: -Burn instead of exploding when hitting a target. -Come from a technological source. -Goes in a straight line. -Bounce over reflective surfaces like the Mirror Shield (which can reflect sunlight). -Are refered as lasers by the LoZ Encyclopedia released by Nintendo. d = 108 px t = 0.07 s V = 1,542.857 px/s Sword swing Swing = 90 degrees (90÷360)2π(67 px) = 105.24 px t = 0.1 s V = 1,052.43 px/s Pegasus Boots Speed d = 98 px t = 0.1 s V = 980 px/s Beamos laser = 1 c = 300,000 km/s Sword swing = 204,639.85 km/s = 68.213% c Pegasus Boots = 190,555.555 km/s = 63.518% c Link's Awakening Swing = 180 degrees (180÷360)2π(140) = 439.82 px Beam = 167 px (439.82 px)÷(167 px) = 2.6336x faster Beamos laser = 1 c = 300,000 km/s Sword swing = 790,101.146 km/s = 2.6336 c
