I used to kill spiders
In cage 14:6
Where they fed me well through the bars
And my feet grew heavy
Strong for stomping
Weak for running
Spiders came alone back then
Two at once if they were brave
But I was braver
My coat was dense
My hide was thick
And I slept soundly under the promise
That one day
The hands that fed
Would kill them for me
But my feet alone grew caked in guts
I used to kill spiders
Before the sickening crunch put me off my food
And I starved for the strength I couldn’t make alone
The strength that crushed my crawling fears
While the spiders made themselves at home
Made webs in corners and above
So I curled in the cent
