Dvergar - Nocturnal, subterranean spirits. The counterparts of the alfar. In English they are known as dwarfs, in Anglo-Saxon as dweorg and in Old High German as twerg. We will be referring to them as the Old Norse and Icelandic dvergur (sing.) and dvergar (pl.) to differentiate them from the dwarfs of Germany and Britain, who are undoubtedly their descendants. They are also known as svartalfar (black elfs) and dokkalfar (dark elfs), though are only referred to as such by Snorri. The species you will encounter on the designate Stargate address are the Dvergar, Dwergaz or Dwarfs as you might call them. As some of the legends, myths or associations with other species like the Daneg/ Deneg suggest, they are good minors, craftsmen and smiths of all kind of technology. To us Asgard they are also quit ugly, but so are human Tar and Unas too. Unlike some ot the myths might suggest, they are not a small species, able to effect others mentally to make them dizzy. They are associate with death as a strong warrior species not only skilled in building technology and weapons, but also fighting themselves. They even managed to inflict some damage on the early Asgard and deceive us into believing themselves to be weaker then they truly were. Seen as evil or demonic by other spices guided by us, but unlike the Goa’uld, Ice Giants and Replicators they can be reasoned quit well with.
