An Animated World Religions Sampler
I consider it very fortunate happenstance that in the very semester I took a full World Religions course, my elder brother introduced me to the popular cartoon series of Avatar The Last Airbender. The reasons for the cartoon's popularity quickly became apparent as I observed intriguing plotlines, well-developed characters and intelligent dialogue, all with a fair peppering of refreshing humor. But beyond these qualities, I found the series to be laced with obvious religious undertones. But had it not been for my World Religions class, I would never have known just how deeply these undertones went, nor would I have noticed the less-obvious religious elements scattered throughout the show.
