Relative Illusion - Part Twenty-eight
Michael waited for his secretary to connect the call. Normally, he would have had her take a message, but it was Captain Brooks and he said it was regarding Lee. This did not make him feel any better about the previous call from the man to The Black Torrent. Something was up and if Lee was involved then it probably wasn’t good. The phone chimed and he picked it up quickly, “This is Mr. Michael Bruce.”
“Hello Mr. Bruce, this is Captain Brooks. I’m just calling to see how your son is.”
“He’s fine. Is this a normal procedure after a kidnapping?”
“Well, no,” The Captain sounded

The building they arrived at was quiet. In fact, there was an eerie silence over the entire river bank, not even the sound of birds to be heard.
“There are four outer doors. I suggest you each take one to surround Carnie Kid.” Yule growled out over the comm.
Ravenswood had an eye on the roof of the warehouse and suddenly stated, “There’s someone up top.”

Lee returned to the penthouse in a remarkably good mood, humming to himself as he sat on the couch and typed. Sara stayed and spoke to Yule in the study about what she had learned and observed about her nephew, then agreed to stay for dinner. Michael realized his son was dizzy from all the spell casting and made him sit down to rest. The boy sighed, “True, but I certainly wasn’t going to tell Carnie Kid that I had my ass handed to me while I was filching your amulets. Or that, for the most part, I simply ran off when I got what I wan

The days merged into something passing as routine for Team Torrent. Michael, Sara, Ravenswood, and Melody went to their respective jobs during the day and did their normal superhero rounds at night. Rysta and Yule, with Tiernan, spent most of their days spell-casting and trying to solve the problems involved with getting all of them back home. Aardrin had been given a notebook and was furiously writing things down about how to deal with a potential healer so that Sara would know how to deal with anything that might come up. Yule also gave Aardrin a crash course in running the comm center so that he could help Team Torrent when they needed it
