Chapter 23
Anneleise watched in horror as the balverines suddenly were locked into battle, and the female known as Annabell had released a devastating howl to signal the others to attack. The girl immediately got to her feet and began to instruct the mercenaries for the fight, because they would be needing a lot of silver for this if they were to survive. Redd had grabbed Elia and pulled her behind him to hide her in a safe area, but there was barely a place to keep her, especially one where a balverine couldn't sniff you out. He looked around frantically as he held onto her forearm, Elia just followed blindly.

The Blackwood Manor had looked a lot nicer than what the young girl was expecting within the middle of a dark and murky forest, and Anneleise was almost convinced they had stumbled upon the wrong creepy ominous mansion, but Saker continued his way toward it on horse back while everyone else followed obediently. It was suspiciously quiet as the men led their horses, who bucked and whinnied the closer they approached, but Anneleise left her horse near the tunnel entrance in case things let to a fight or flee situation. It was all hazy for Lucas when he came to, and of course he naturally bolted up and looked around frantically, only to see the dead girl before him was still standing there. She looked the same as the day they had met, only she had more of an edge to her, her thick hair framed her face like an angel. Lucas held his hand to his head, feeling a sharp pain, and he then noticed they sat in a grassy field that was unfamiliar to the boy, so he slowly sat up and started at the girl unblinking.
"You were dead." He stated with a cold expression.
"Yes, I was technically." She answered, curling her finger aroun

Chapter 11
Anneleise awoke slowly that morning as the rising sun peered over the trees, and she was too comfortable to even move from the mattress she slept on, her body still slightly sore from training all night. She then felt her skin tingle from the cold, and she quickly grabbed more blanket, covering her entire form and rolling into some sort of ball. She then looked up and noticed Saker's large form on the chair, his chest rising and falling steadily as he slept with his feet resting on the edge of the bed. The young girl smiled as she saw him, and his eyes suddenly fluttered open, his eyesight adjusted to

"Anneleise, look up ahead." One of the men announced as they quietly continued their way forward. "They don't seem to be creatures, they must be men." His eyes narrowed as he kept a watchful eye upon the figures. Due to their lack of movement, his hand remained on the reigns of his horse rather than his pistol.
The young woman rode ahead and watched as their silhouettes became more defin
