I've heard this so many times that it's becoming a stereotype of its own.
"I don't care what you think of me."
"I'm proud to be different."
"I refuse to conform."
It's been done. If you're going to boast about your differences, at least bring something to the argument with you.

this is precisely the problem today, people worry so much trying to argue or justify why they are what they are besides just simply be themselves, and others waste too much time wanting that people prove what they are instead of taking care of theyr own lives that the sense of it all is lost, I am what I am, who knows me knows that I am, I do not need to prove anything to anyone, nor waste my time proving anything to anyone, i dont own nothing to no one and nobody pays my debts so i have to do any kind of satisfaction about the way i live and the way i am, those who know me know how I am ... Now, from the time that you "need" and "want to" keep proving to others what you are, instead of just be, oh yes you become a stereotype ..
