With this series I wanted to experiment with a dancer and her shadow with a cyc background to get a smooth shadow.

The source is a direct unfiltered studio flash with near-closed vertical barn doors to minimise the flash bounce and maximise the depth of the shadow. Anyone who works with studio flash will recognise just how unforgiving a light source that is. A real testimony to Elke’s beauty and skill that she survived this lighting so well.

Lucked out with a brilliant dancer for this shoot. Elke danced her butt off almost non-stop for 4 hours with no complaint. Another real professional. I have to say working with good dancers is just brilliant. They are tough!
