Artist's StatementThe result of a completely random question asked on a note on facebook:
7. Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of a bees? a bear definately, at least then I wouldnt get any up my nose or in my mouth...unless it was a really small bear - a swarm of really small bears...do bears swarm? and then a conversation with my sister, the result of which was the Bumblebear, which I then sketched out during our conversation over Skype, on this old pay statement, then scanned in and coloured in Photoshop. *** This Bumblebear is called Boris, shown on his ownsome, though Bumblebears do swarm, when they find some good honey - unsurprisingly they are the Bumblebees arch enemy, though Bumblebees cant see very well, and Bumblebears look very much like Bumblebees at a glance, so frequently the Bumblebees can lose all their honey without even noticing until it's too late. Bumblebears dont sting, but they do bite if provoked. If you would like to see a Bumblebear, simply leave a jar of good honey out on the windowsill in the summer and keep your eyes peeled. :giggle: |
