A still sunrise over the billabong, promise of a hot summer day. And hopefully a belly full of fish and frogs for a hungry heron.

White faced heron and giant blue waterlily (nymphaea gigantea)--though I must say when I've seen these waterlilies I'm not sure why they're called 'giant'. They're big enough I guess, but...well. Not giant :)

I'm behind on here again, and if you've commented on one of my works or we were in mid conversation and I suddenly disappeared, please accept my apologies, and my promise to get with it again in a couple of days. Things have been busy and all my spare time has gone into this painting. They always become an obsession at some point and everything non essential (ie that doesn't involve feeding the family or remembering to keep us all properly clothed) takes a back seat until the painting is done.
