Artist's Statement
This is the magnificent Bay of Fires near St Helens on the east coast of the Tasmanian coast. The bay was given its name in 1773 by Captain Tobias Furneaux in Adventure, the Royal Navy Barque which sailed with Resolution on Captain James Cook's second Pacific voyage, who saw the fires of Aboriginal people on the beaches.
