Artist's Statement
This piece was inspired by a song I played the marimba on in jazz band last week called "Night Train", a slow piece that conveys a lazy, slow ride on an empty train through the dark night and into the faster-paced morning light. And so it got me thinking, what would one find on a nearly-empty night train? What lingers there that day-travelers never see? I tried to create an awkward moment filled with both mystery, humour, and fantatical awe. I wish it were bigger so you could all see the details (jacket stitching, stray hairs, etc), but oh well. Anyway, enjoy ^_^
Note: just because they're on a train doesn't mean it's from spirited away ;) Photoshop CS2 + Tablet Refs used Illustrator CS for background composition Several days completion Crits and comments greatly appreciated! |
