Artist's Statement
My first hike up Peaked Mountain took place at night with a few friends. When the summit was reached we were confronted with a vast wall of fog. As time passed the fog gradually cleared revealing an amazing vista if rolling hills still draped in distant mist.
On a second visit my cousin and I ascended the mountain trail to reach the peak at night, this time with camera in hand. What was meant to be a well planed photo shoot of that scenic location turned into a hasty retreat. Only seconds after reaching the top, flashes of lightning could be seen all about in the clouds above and rain came pouring down. Finally a day trip was planned. Looking at this photo reminds me of how suddenly the trees open from the narrow forested path to reveal this grand vista that Peaked Mountain offers. |
