Christmas Eve--Searching for..

..the Back of Bourke.

Back o' Bourke is a an expression that means...out in the middle of no where, or waaay out in the bush.

Santa is just starting his long night of deliveries, one of his first stops is the house of a little boy out in the bush. His route is charted on his map, but Santa's taken a bit of a wrong turn. Like most men, he doesn't really want to ask directions, but after passing the same gum tree 3 times, the reindeer are ready to mutiny.

"Please, Santa...stop and ask directions, or our schedule will be shot!"

So, reluctantly, Santa agrees to stop and get directions from those who know the area best--the natives.

Turns out it's a good thing he did. He's way off course.

I kept imagining the kangaroo saying "Sorry, mate, yer waaay over here..."

I'm tempted to call this "Real Men Ask Directions".
