This past Saturday night, I went to go see Silver Linings Playbook at the on-campus theater at ASU. The counseling center was represented by student volunteers handing out notices for the counseling center and motivational flyers, encouraging people to recognize and remember their self-worth.
These students are volunteers and were taking time out of their weekend night to let other people know how important they are to the world around them. This, as well as the theme of the movie inspired me to write and draw this comic.
I don't necessarily believe that you need affirmation from anyone else that you are wonderful person - simply having the gift of life is what gives you your worth. But I do think that encouragement from others helps tremendously.
Again, these things said about yourself in this comic are true not because I or anyone else said them, but because it simply is the truth, a truth independent of this comic. I'm simply just restating it in visual form.
Perspective is everything. Call me idealistic, but I refuse to believe there is any person, no matter how alone or no matter how flawed, that doesn't have at least one person that loves them on this planet.
