Sunning American Alligator - Aransas Refuge

Captured this American Alligator at the Aransas Wildlife Refuge near Corpus Christi, Texas. I drove down from San Antonio on Sunday March 24, 2013 and hiked the Heron Flats Trail (1.5 Miles or so roundtrip). While on the trail, I spotted approxamately 7 alligators sunning in one of the slough ponds off the trail. This was the largest in the group that I could get close to get and good picture. This guy is approxamately 10-12 feet in length. This fellow did not react at all to my presence taken at about 15 feet from the individual with Canon 500 MM lens. There was a much larger specimen sunning but could not reasonably approach him without putting several alligators in between myself and the trail system.
