Pan meets Nature in the Spring as a child, and they become friends and fall in love in Summer. By Autumn Nature starts to become old, and in Winter, she dies. Pan stays with her, sleeping at her side, and dies with her - when Spring returns they are reborn and meet and fall in love over again. No matter how many times they forget one another, his sacrifice at her side in Winter means that they will always meet again.

I got told this story when I was young, and thought it would be something to paint over the Christmas season. Pan was the trees and forest, while Nature was the sky and moon. It's nearly Spring now so I suppose it's still relevant
