Artist's Statement

This is a piece that revisits the idea of a Purgatory I dreamed of... oh ... years ago now. It may be familiar to some of you. In this dream, the saddest law in Purgatory was the one that stated the color purple shall never exist there. This was supposed to be the worst consequence of being a soul stuck in that place between -- never again being able to lay eyes on that color -- and it was.

Sometimes I dream such odd things that I wonder if I'm finally stuck there in Purgatory. Thankfully I can remember to look for something purple to focus on. I know if I can see purple, then I am not there yet. Edwina's parlor may exist someplace that is indeed a limbo... but it's not Purgatory. Not yet. Stock used to help create this piece comes from :devmizzd-stock: for Edwina and her doppelgangers that seem to be emerging from the frames. The chair, tiger, and frames all come from shutterstock.com.
