Artist's Statement
Over this summer I worked in a archaeological field school out in the Pryor Mountains of Montana.
Which means I had loads of great opportunities to go to beautiful places to take photos. For one of our days off our field director took us to a petroglyph canyon and this was one of the first ones I got to see. My guess was that this particular carving was of a chief or medicine man. Perhaps a hunter. Definitely someone of some importance as none of the other men that I saw had the staff or the object protruding from their skull. Image © Timothy Reid |
