I heard somewhere a while ago that the first song to be beamed into space will be "Across the Universe" by The Beatles. After considering how appropriate that would be I felt like listening to the song, which had always been one of my favourites, and definitely one of John's best I think. I'd always said that of every Beatles song, Across the Universe has the best (or my favourite) lyrics.

Fiona Apple has a really nice cover (a bit softer and more dreamy, but The Beatles' version has more rhythm) which I was obsessed with a while ago. Anyway, as I was listening to The Beatles' version I fell in love with it all over again, and so I did this in the spirit of the song. Music is such a cool inspiration like that. No plan as usual, I just had the song on repeat and this is what it made. It's mostly watercolours, with ink for the words flowing out (into the paper cup :D). I used an old toothbrush for the tiny specs of white, and actually painted the black outlines on the little 'things' on the right and elsewhere with a tiny brush, until I realised a pen could do the exact same thing much more easily lol.
