Artist's Statement
A subterranean environment complete with its own ecosystem which has evolved in isolation for millions of years. Luminous mineral water heated by geothermal energy has provided the right environment for life to survive deep underground. Plants and fungi alike rely on a luminous glow to remain seen by potential pollinators or perhaps some other use. A would-be black cavern is now lit up with an eerie light from some very unexpected sources.
This is my third and final artwork made for the Luminarium's Gaia</a exhibit. An inspirational collection of various artist's works centered around one of my favourite themes. I also was chosen this time around as the featured artist too! :la: The interview page is here [link] In that I talk about the process of making this in detail, so there's no real urgency to put that here. This was made using my most common choice in workflow though. Sampling a bit of my fave programs, each proving ways to get the best results for certain features. I put this one in the Mixed Media category since it used an almost equal amount of 3D work and Photoshop compositioning as I couldn't get the scene I desired all at once in the same 3D file. <b>Artwork made and copyrighted by me.
