Approx 10" x 14" grey Canford paper. Charcoal powder, graphite powder, white pastel and 3B Faber Castell pencil.

A complete change from my usual work this time.

Following advice, tips and much encouragement from fellow deviant GreyScale36 [link] I had the courage to try a different technique.

Apart from the initial sketch the picture is almost exclusively executed in powder which was applied with various sizes of paint brush. A few finer details were added with pencil to sharpen up a few areas.

The original photo is worth a view (and fav). The soft focusing and subtle, muted colours are wonderful.
