Artist's Statement
This is an older piece I have re-worked and added the abstract effect. I feel the piece has a lot more vitality now that the characters identity is hidden. Ideally at the time I created this piece in 2010 I wanted to depict someone without identity (just a consumer for McDonalds idea). However with this effect I have captured the ambiance of the McDonalds 'arena' I wanted originally back in 2010.. I am happy with it now :)
I am looking at the contrast between hyper-realism and complete abstract forms. The way the mind obtains visual information with complete obedience at the same time can throw it into ignorance in the minds eye. The subconscious vs the conscious on an intuitive level of the mind, to see a complete picture without incomprehension is unrealistic. The aesthetic of my new work looks at the hand in hand projection of the minds thought process combined with the visualization gathered from the eye alone. |
