This is a design of Celtic spirals and knotwork arranged around four decorative eagles; the spirals in their wings are based on a traditional pattern that I saw in George Bain's " Celtic Interlace"; I worked them into my eagles' wings when I painted and animated them for a digital illustrated version of Lord Dunsany's short story " Charon", for an Amiga demo contest back in 1988. A simpler version of the animated eagle is part of the free Celtic clip art collection at my web site.

Here I repainted the eagles at a much higher resolution for use in print, and framed them with additional patterns.
