Artist's Statement
Is this an aerial photo of the beginning of the fire bombing of Dresden? No, it's a solarised, inverted section of distressed, painted steel pedestrian barrier somewhere in Croydon. As usual with the 'Disasters' series the impression intended is that we are looking at the aftermath of some wretched misfortune reminiscent of The Disasters Of War etchings by Goya [link] but nowhere near as explicit.
