Piran is an old port in the extreme southwest of Slovenia, at the coast of the Adriati sea.
This promontory extends between the bays of Piran and Strunjan. The peninsula reaches up
to the cape Madonna, which defines Š avrinska the Brda (hill of Š avrin). The city, with their
close lanes and houses closely lined up, which rise from the coast stair-well-behaved, and
which whole environment, has a typical Mediterranean character, and the medieval
sketch remained received.

<b>Piran - The St. George Cathedral</b>

Over the close town centre dominates the St. George Cathedral, which gives a special coinage
to the city. It became probable in 12. Century established, but gives it over it no reliable data.
In 14. Century was developed it to new size and beauty. On the day of St. George, it was
inaugurated in 1344 by nine bishops from the environment. The today's look and got the Church
in 1637 after a skilful renovation in the Baroque style. The construction of the vault was started
in the year 1663 and lasted until 1804. Due to erosion, it was already badly damaged, so it had
to be renewed in 1998. The wall paintings come from the Venetian School of painting.
