For each challenge we interchangeably give ourselves an idea or topic to illustrate and a short, specified time to execute it in whatever shape or form... of course, without knowing what the others are going to come up with.

This week's topic is `daekazu's idea: <b>Cleopatra</b>.

At first I was bloody unhappy with how it was turning out, than something clicked and it ended up ok, I think. I was always worried to go with a painterly style and leave a very simple, graphic composition and I think it sort of turned out like I wanted it too. Thinking of whole series in this style actually (famous queens and historic ladies). Also - used this one as an opportunity to practice hands and skintones.

No direct refs used, but I looked up a lot of Egyptian jewellery and hands (few angles). Not one used for the face though, I always wanted to imagine my own version of Cleopatra, and this is sort of what I had in mind. Not too girly, not to adult. Not too sexy, yet attractive and pretty sensual.
