He has armor stronger than anything else known. Only the blue parts are vulnerable. He can wrap up into a cacoon, but he won't be able to move. Also, it is fire proof.
The 'shards' of shield on his arms are sharp, so he could use it as knives, but due to his legs, it would make him clumsy. So the best thing he does, is protecting.
Unlike cannonbolt, he can't take someone in his shield, but he can wrap his arms around him/her and protect him/her that way.
