The event of Ghadeer is when Prophet Muhammad lifted the hand of his cousin Ali - to announce to the muslim nation that he is the true successor.

this is a crucial point in history for the Muslims - and this is also the point of divide between muslims. as the Sunni believe this event did not happen and the Shia believe it is a fundamental truth.
