Artist's Statement
The painting entitled Coca-Cola Flower was again influenced by the paintings of Frida Kahlo which feature images of nature; flowers or leaves. I tried to accomplish the same simple colour, smooth blend technique of Kahlos, resisting detail, and in turn creating a simple impression of a flowers shape. The painting itself focuses attention to the petals of the red flowers displayed within Coca-Cola Garden, which apparently up close seen to be made from Coca-Cola soda cans. This idea follows the similar concept of the brand spreading, growing, and feeding the world. Beautiful as well as appreciated as much as nature. The materials used include the pasting of photographs, acrylic paint, black pens, impasto gel medium and gloss varnish.
