Some painting practice.
A few years ago, at a book sale, I found a BIG book of art from the National Gallery in DC. A major score. I decided last night to do some painting practice. I chose the first painting in the book. You can see the original here: [link] I decided to change the eyes of Mary from the original. In the original, she's looking straight at you (which I find unsettling). I had her looking at Jesus, but that felt boring. I like that she's looking away ... I think it leads the eye better for the composition. But also I like the idea of her staring off into space as this mini-Jesus is going on about how he's the son of God and all that .... Photoshop CS5 |
