Artist's Statement
*grumble* I had a whole description written, which then got lost XP
Lets see... I've been doing a lot of paper cut to help develop some projects for the museum my husband works at. This summer in Milwaukee, the mayor has decreed it to be "the Summer of China," so I've been trying to come up with projects that are based around Chinese arts and handicraft. This one is definitely not Chinese, but the principles stand (I'll try to get back and scan the more Chinese-esque one's I made a week or two ago as examples...) I don't know where this one started out, other than a little birdie singing to her chicks. We have a ton of birds nests in our yard, and therefore, we now have a ton of cute, fluff-balls hopping around, so it was bound to influence me somewhere along the line. The momma bird is singing, and one of her chicks is singing with her. The other is really confused as to what is going on. The eggs in the nest can't sing, of course, hence the "..." And the squirrel (I know I can't draw squirrels, obviously) is singing off key. Yeah, I don't know what goes on in my mind, either. The main image is on cardstock, with the designs colored with Prismacolored pencils (something I'm trying to get better with). I scanned this one, and put it together with the background scrapbooking paper digitally - the original will be floating between layers of clear plexiglass. So, is it worth putting up as a print? <h3>©2011 Sam Lemieux // `taeliac Taeliac.Etsy.com :: TaeliacStudio.com</h3> |
