The Earthlike Planet and the starship were originally created in Blender. The Planet is actually from the Animation project I am in the middle of. The textures used come from a Nasa sattelite photo of France (which is free to use), but which has been reconfigured into a totally fictitious landscape. The Spacecraft was done as a basic model, and most of the detail was added in photoshop. the rest of the picture was done in photoshop. If the Blender planet is taken out of the equation, time from start to finish, about 6 hours.
