Daughter of King Agenor and Queen Telephassa of Phoenicia, enamoured by Zeus, he kidnapped her in the form of a white bull by tempting her with a beautiful flower necklace, taking her to Crete.

Her brother Cadmus was sent to look for her and he set off on his journey that took him and the Phoenician alphabet to Greece and her name became immortalised as the great continent of Europe.
